Filmdom’s Fringe

film still from I Am a Knife with Legs

Firmly ensconced in its adolescence, the always weird and occasionally wonderful Boston Underground Film Festival celebrates its 17th edition at Harvard Square’s storied Brattle Theatre March 25–29. Highlighting the latest cutting-edge features and film shorts, this year’s event screens dozens of works in genres ranging from horror and fantasy to action and comedy, as well as cult films from the past. On closing night, the Bacchus Awards are presented to audience and jury favorites. They may not be Academy Awards, but these demonic pink-and-black bunny statuettes would certainly make Oscar nervous. For tickets and a complete schedule, visit bostonunderground.org.
