What happens when you mix the music of The White Stripes and Tchaikovsky with world-class dancers and innovative choreography? Find out at the Boston Opera House, which hosts Boston Ballet’s latest repertory program, Shades of Sound (refer to listing, page 13). The performance begins with Chroma, a contemporary piece created by acclaimed choreographer Wayne McGregor set to a score by Joby Talbot, with music arrangements by Jack White of The White Stripes. Next is the company premiere of George Balanchine’s classic Episodes, followed by another Boston Ballet first, Hans van Manen’s Black Cake, a lighthearted romp featuring the work of classical music giants Tchaikovsky, Janáček, Stravinsky, Mascagni and Massenet. Indulge in this wide spectrum of fantastic dance and music at the Opera House March 19–29.
