Few fairy tales are as timeless as The Sleeping Beauty, and few ballets are as magical—or as popular—as Marius Petipa’s 1890 staging based on the classic story whose origins date back to the 14th century. Boston Ballet once again brings the work of Petipa—with help from late British dance legend Sir Frederick Ashton—to life, complete with a score by Tchaikovsky. Lose yourself in the world of the slumbering, cursed princess Aurora who can only be awakened by true love’s kiss—along with other enchanting characters, including Puss in Boots, the wicked fairy Carabosse and, of course, Prince Desire—at the Boston Opera House, April 28–May 27.
