Red-headed Heroine

One of musical theater’s most beloved characters—not to mention one of the most relentlessly positive songs ever, “Tomorrow”—returns to the Boch Center’s Wang Theatre stage when the latest production of Annie comes to Boston May 9–21. Based on the long-running Little Orphan Annie comic strip created by Harold Gray that debuted in 1924, and directed by original lyricist and director Martin Charnin, this new incarnation still recounts the adventures of a plucky, red-headed orphan and her friends—not to mention Sandy the dog and prospective father figure Oliver “Daddy” Warbucks—who all contend against the machinations of dastardly orphanage matron Miss Hannigan. Always a family favorite, this timeless tuner is one stage extravaganza you and your kids won’t want to miss.
