Pops Stars

As if the dazzling pyrotechnic display that caps off the annual Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular wasn’t enough, the 44th edition of the famed free outdoor concert at the Charles River Esplanade’s Hatch Shell on July 4 at 8:30 p.m. features an explosion of talent on stage as well. Guest stars this year include pop sensation Andy Grammer, rocker Melissa Etheridge and Hamilton star Leslie Odom, Jr. (pictured). There’s also the world premiere of The Sum of Us, a new piece by the award-winning team of composer Alan Menken and lyricist Jack Feldman—not to mention the U.S. Army Field Band and Soldiers’ Chorus, the Middlesex County Volunteers Fifes and Drums and a military fly-over—to look forward to on July 4 along with the usual Keith Lockhart-led array of patriotic tunes.
