Stuck in a rut and need a quick fix? Ask people-person Heather Coughlin at the Loews Boston Hotel for help. Heather has all the details on directions, transportation, and tours, and enjoys going the extra mile to make a guest feel at home. She knows exactly what a visitor needs to know when staying in Boston, like where to find the best lobster rolls, how to get to Fenway Park, and what to do if it's a rainy day for your Boston Common wedding.

How long have you been working at the Loews Boston Hotel? What brought you to that hotel and Boston in general?
Nine years in September. I was born and raised in Boston, and one of the team members who worked at the property recruited me because of my love for meeting new people.

What do you think sets your hotel apart from others in the city?
The service our team member’s provide to each guest is personalized and makes the guest feel as comfortable here as if they were in their own home. Our team is empowered to do whatever they can to surprise and delight the guest during their stay.

Say a guest has only one day to explore. What's your advice?
My advice would be to walk the Freedom Trail, but also get off the beaten path to explore more than the historical sites Boston has to offer such as neighborhood restaurants, lobster rolls by the waterfront, boutique shops, and friendly Bostonians! Because Boston is such a sports city, a tour of Fenway Park is a must!

What are some of the most common requests you get from guests? Have you had any strange or memorable requests over the years?
Most recently, there was a couple who travelled to Boston—their favorite city—to get married in the Boston Common. The rain got worse and worse and they were very upset when talking to me about having to postpone the wedding. They had friends who travelled into town for their big event, and it was looking to them that their special day would no longer happen.

I was able to come up with a great idea for them to get married in our newly renovated presidential suite since there were no current guests staying in it. I decorated the suite, with the assistance of our Sales Administrative Assistant, Cally Altumara. We decorated the suite with flowers, champagne, and amenities, to create a unforgettable experience.

The couple was blown away by what we were able to do for them, that they cried with happiness. The ceremony took place in the suite that afternoon with a small group of family and friends beside them. The newlywed couple said their day was even more perfect than what they could have imagined, all because of the experience created for them at the Loews Boston.

When you're not working, what do you like to do in Boston?
My ideal day off is enjoying any of the wonderful restaurants in the North End. I love having a great meal and a fine glass of wine with wonderful company. After my meal, I enjoy taking a walk on the beach near my house.

And lastly, what's your favorite thing about this city? I love that Boston has something for everyone, whether it is an interest in history, a love for sports, or wanting the relaxation from being near the ocean. Boston has it all!
