Back Bay Bash

Delivering a wide variety of entertainment, the annual Summer Arts Weekend taking place July 25 & 26 in Copley Square literally has something for everyone. Saturday’s showcase alone practically covers an entire universe of fun and pulse-pounding acts. Looking for fun for the kids? Check out musical outfits Karen K & The Jitterbugs and Zak Morgan and the Funny Farmers, as well as juggler Remarkable Renaldo of the Big Apple Circus. Like world music? Federator N°1, a 12-piece afrobeat outfit, is your jam. Is funk, soul and jazz your thing? Groove to artists Bettye LaVette and New Orleans’ legendary Dirty Dozen Brass Band (pictured). And for the night’s grand finale, country fans get their due when acclaimed singer/songwriter Emmylou Harris takes the stage with Rodney Crowell. Sunday only ups the ante with performances by the local classical ensemble the Handel and Haydn Society, Cape Breton fiddling phenom Natalie MacMaster and another Big Easy institution, Aaron Neville. And best of all? It’s free.
