Maiden Southie

A mini-boom of restaurants has cropped up in the area surrounding South Boston’s Broadway MBTA station recently, and this trend shows no signs of slowing down with the recent opening of The Maiden (28 West Broadway, 617-315-7829, themaidenboston.com), the brainchild of the team behind the temporarily shuttered Sam’s in the Seaport District. Centered around New England oysters, cheeses from Massachusetts and abroad, and both locally crafted and international charcuterie, The Maiden’s menu also features such delectable delights as black pepper gnocchi, a hay-smoked pork chop and a big, juicy burger. It may not be vegetarian-friendly, but combine this with eight beers on tap, a wine list arranged from “good” to “chaotic” and creative, cordial-based cocktails and you have one Maiden that certainly knows how to dish out good food, drink and hospitality.
