HUBBUB

Cocktail of the Week
ELAINE'S RICKEY
Grendel's Den
89 Winthrop Street
617-491-1160

The raspberry lime rickey has been a non-alcoholic New England summertime staple for generations, but this summer, subterranean Cambridge eatery Grendel’s Den—a Harvard Square fixture in its own right since 1971—is offering up a rickey with an extra kick. Elaine’s Rickey, a combination of Svedka raspberry vodka, fresh lemonade and Monin raspberry syrup, is available at Grendel’s as part of the Harvard Square Business Association’s special “Think Pink, Drink Pink, Shop Pink!” Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign. Through August 31, restaurants, bakeries, bars and shops throughout the square are selling unique pink products, with a portion of proceeds going to battle breast cancer—which makes Elaine’s Rickey the kind of refreshment that nourishes both body and soul.

Seriously Cool Treats
PEPPINO'S GELATERIA
AT DAVINCI RISTORANTE

162 Columbus Ave.
617-350-0007

Looking for a way to beat the heat this summer? Chef Peppino at Italian eatery Da Vinci Ristorante is offering his diners a truly refreshing take on a frosty favorite that’s anything but vanilla. “Peppino’s Gelateria” serves the frozen Italian confection gelato in a variety of imaginative and original flavors for the daring foodie, including “starters” like heirloom tomato, balsamic vinegar and foie gras (!); palate cleansers like mint, basil and rhubarb; and sweeter indulgences like cinnamon apple, Campari grapefruit, pistachio and mango. Baskin-Robbins can brag about its 31 flavors all it wants—it’s clear true dessert diversity dwells at Da Vinci.

A Grand Clam
SUMMER SHACK CLAMBAKES ON SPECTACLE ISLAND
Departing from Long Wharf North
August 5, 12, 19, & 26from 6:30–9 p.m.
Tickets: $75, children $35

The Boston culinary scene’s first name in seafood, the one and only Jasper White, is tempting diners to heed the call of the Boston Harbor Islands this summer as his Summer Shack restaurants host weekly clambakes on Spectacle Island. Every Thursday evening, seafood lovers can hop aboard a Boston’s Best Cruises harbor ferry for a sunset cruise to Spectacle and enjoy a delicious classic New England clambake served by White’s culinary crew. Take in a striking view of the Boston skyline while chowing down on clam chowder, steamed lobster, mussels, steamers, corn on the cob, new potatoes, chorizo and a sweet seasonal dessert on a picturesque sandy beach. It doesn’t get more quintessentially New England than that. Call 617-770-0040 for reservations.
