High 5: Christmas Day Dining

Cozy up at these top tables this December 25 and celebrate the day in style

Abe & Louie’s: The Back Bay steakhouse serves five special dishes on both Christmas Eve and the big day itself, including roasted oysters with lemon-butter sauce, a 14-ounce prime rib and pan-roasted branzino. Don’t forget to save room for the special dessert: a gingerbread Yule log with Chantilly whipped cream.

Atlantic Fish Co.: A sister operation to Abe & Louie’s, this longtime purveyor of fresh seafood boasts Christmas Eve and day specialties as well, such as clams casino with smoked bacon along with main dishes like bouillabaisse with lobster, shrimp, scallops, mussels, clams and cod.

Contessa (pictured): The Northern Italian-themed restaurant perched atop the luxurious Newbury Boston hotel dazzles not only with its view, but also with an exclusive Christmas menu that is highlighted by beef carpaccio, spicy lobster rigatoni, grilled prime rib and Nutella fudge cake panettone for dessert, all served family style.

La Padrona: Gather in the Back Bay as this Italian-accented hot spot at the Raffles Boston hotel gears up for its first Christmas season, offering à la carte items and holiday specials from 3–8 p.m.

Para Maria: A Latin-flavored respite at the Seaport's Envoy Hotel, this eatery offers Christmas specials like sweet & spicy sweet potato bisque, chili-braised short rib and, for dessert, torta de arroz, a sweetened rice cake with citrus cream and powdered sugar.
