For the first time ever, Boston plays host to one of the biggest figure skating competitions outside of the Olympics—the World Figure Skating Championships (refer to listing, page 18). T

The U.S. Figure Skating Championships returns to the city for the first time since 2001, celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. Hosted by The Skating Club of Boston, the Championships are the final qualifying competition before the selection of the 2014 U.S. Olympic figure skating team.

The first time Jimmy Morgan and Alex Shaughnessy skated together, there was no magic spark. Four years later, they’re competing among the nation’s elite at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships at TD Garden.
