Color Your World
Henri Matisse, Interior with an Etruscan Vase (detail), 1940

Just as the arrival of spring signals an explosion of color, so too does the current exhibit Matisse in the Studio at the Museum of Fine Arts. The 20th century French master is given the behind-the-scenes treatment in a show that presents his canvases alongside the personal objects that inspired them. Divided into themes ranging from “The Nude” to “Essential Forms,” the expansive display showcases 36 paintings, 26 drawings, 11 bronzes, nine cut-outs, three prints and an illustrated book in addition to approximately 39 items from his studio collection, and makes its only U.S. appearance right here in Boston. This is the first time many of these works have appeared outside of France, so don’t miss this chance to bask in the kaleidoscopic world of one of history’s most influential artists.
