Huddle with your loved one (or meet your next significant other) at these locations and happenings on and around February 14
Christopher Columbus Park: Celebrate love all through February as the lighted trellis at this waterfront spot in the North End is transformed into a Tunnel of Love, ripe for photo opportunities—or, who knows, even a proposal?—with your sweetie. Dance to the music and return throughout the month for fun surprises.
The Brattle: The classic indie cinema in Harvard Square marks the occasion by screening not one, but two timeless and thoroughly quotable romances on February 13 & 14: the 1942 World War II-set drama Casablanca featuring all-time performances by stars Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman that shows Thursday and Friday at 4 & 7 p.m., and Rob Reiner’s beloved fractured fairy tale, 1987’s The Princess Bride, which is presented both days at 10 p.m.
Scullers Jazz Club: This elegant room at the DoubleTree Suites hosts jazz-pop chanteuse Emmaline on Valentine’s night at 7 & 9 p.m. Expect a candlelit, rose-accented evening full of love-infused originals and covers from the inventive, Nashville-based musician and songwriter.
Boston Harbor City Cruises (pictured): Embarking from Commonwealth Pier at the World Trade Center in the Seaport, BHCC’s Spirit of Boston is the place to be February 14 & 15 for the Valentine’s Day Signature Dinner Cruise, a romantic excursion out on the water featuring a sumptuous buffet, a live DJ and dancing along with unparalleled views of landmarks like the U.S.S. Constitution and the gorgeous city skyline.
Cupid’s Undie Run: Get social in your skivvies at this charity fun run taking place February 15. Centered around The Lansdowne Pub right behind iconic Fenway Park, this nation-wide fundraiser begins with pre-race drinks and dancing beginning at noon before a dressed-down, mile-or-so jaunt in the cold at 2 p.m. that is capped off with a dance party until 4 p.m., all to benefit research to help cure NF, a group of genetic conditions that cause tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body.
