All Hail the Queen
The Boston Pops has hosted many luminaries over its 132-year history, yet opening night may be the first time they’ve welcomed royalty to Symphony Hall—rap royalty, that is. Grammy Award-winning musician/actor Queen Latifah (pictured) joins conductor Keith Lockhart on stage May 10 & 11 to kick off a season that also includes an upcoming guest turn by singer/songwriter Ben Folds (May 17 & 18) and an ABBA-themed Mother’s Day program (May 14 & 15), as well as a special program featuring music from film classic E.T. (May 12 & 13) that is part of a season-long tribute to the music of laureate Pops conductor and composer John Williams, who turned 85 earlier this year.
