Boston Ballet’s spring season gets off to an enchanting start beginning May 10 when Sir Frederick Ashton’s 1948 version of the timeless fairy tale Cinderella (pictured) graces the Citizens Bank Opera House, complete with a fairy godmother, a spectacular royal ball, a glass slipper and a soaring score by Sergei Prokofiev. The season concludes with Rhapsody, which runs in repertory beginning May 16. Consisting of a quartet of works—including a world premiere choreographed by Boston Ballet principal dancer Paulo Arrais, a trio of pieces by Soviet-era choreographer Leonid Yakobson and a George Balanchine masterpiece, Tchaikovksy Piano Concerto No. 2, from 1941—this program offers a seamless mix of the classical with the contemporary.
