Not Toying Around
Not many can claim to have turned playing with children’s toys into a career, yet artist Nathan Sawaya is one of the few (and perhaps only) people to have accomplished this feat. The toys in question are Lego plastic bricks, which Sawaya uses to craft an incredible array of works, from re-creations of famous masterpieces (including Rodin’s The Thinker) to original sculptures like a 20-foot long Tyrannosaurus Rex. Marvel at his inventive creations on the second floor of Quincy Market at Faneuil Hall Marketplace (refer to listing, page 26), where visitors can view the exhibit The Art of the Brick through January 11. Tickets are $15.50–23.50 and can be purchased on site, by calling 866-276-9458 or by visiting bostonbricks.com.
