Henri de Toulouse‑Lautrec, Moulin Rouge: La Goulue (detail), 1891
The iconic posters of French artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec exemplified the colorful nightlife of the City of Lights during the Belle Époque era of the late 19th century. Enjoy a taste of this magical moment in time at the Museum of Fine Arts, which hosts the exhibit Toulouse-Lautrec and the Stars of Paris beginning April 7. Focused on the celebrities of the time, the show features more than 200 works by Toulouse-Lautrec and his contemporaries, including Edgar Degas, Mary Cassatt and Pierre Bonnard. Crafted in conjunction with the Boston Public Library and drawing on that institution’s voluminous holdings, this is one lively display not to be missed.
