In an area that has no lack of historic cemeteries, Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge is perhaps the most beautiful. America’s first landscaped cemetery is a popular destination for nature-lovers, a fact which is highlighted in a series of new, site-specific productions by local playwright and Mount Auburn artist-in-residence Patrick Gabridge. Beginning June 1, visitors can witness the world premiere of Gabridge’s long-awaited The Nature Plays, five short works inspired by Mount Auburn’s lush setting as well as some of the famed naturalists that are interred there. The shorts—ranging from whimsical comedy to heady, environmentally inspired drama—are staged at various spots within the grounds, and are followed by discussions. For tickets, visit mountauburn.org/the-nature-plays or call 617-607-1980.
