As an annual spring event, Boston Design Week has been produced since 2014. Even though the edition scheduled to be held this past March and April was cancelled due to the pandemic, the organizers have rallied to offer a special, free fall version, albeit virtually. For three weeks beginning September 30, from Wednesday through Saturday, those who register online can experience a host of happenings, including podcasts, video presentations, virtual tours and live-streaming panel discussions and expert tips on topics ranging from “Parenting Through a Pandemic” to the two-part “Whose Standards? Racial Equity in Craft and Design.” It all begins with the two-day Boston Design Market hosted by the Boston Design Center, which features keynote addresses, showroom events and more, all accessible through the Design Center’s new app. There’s even participation beyond the Boston area, as events from London, New York, Detroit and Fort Lauderdale are all part of the festivities. From local flavor to international flair, design of all kinds is yours to explore this autumn.
