 Lunar New Year! "Pin It")
Just as New Year’s Eve looked a bit different as the calendar flipped to 2021 recently, so too does the traditional Asian celebration of Lunar New Year, which is officially transitioning from the Year of the Mouse to the Year of the Ox on February 12. Mark the occasion a bit early, albeit online, on January 28 at 7 p.m. with the Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy’s free Curating the Chinese Zodiac event. Every year, the non-profit that oversees Boston’s grand parkway that stretches from the North End to Chinatown sponsors the installation of a public artwork at the Greenway’s Chin Park. Ring out the old and welcome the new as Year of the Mouse artist Furen Dai (whose outgoing installation, pictured, is dubbed A Mouse with Ears and Tail), Year of the Ox artist Andy Li (whose new piece is called The Herd) and Greenway Conservancy Director and Curator of Public Art Lucas Cowan talk about the meaning behind the Chinese Zodiac-inspired works.
