One of college hockey’s most unique traditions, the Beanpot hockey tournament, once again returns to the Hub this February. The annual contest for bragging rights to the Boston area pits local hockey powerhouses Boston College, Boston University, Northeastern University and Harvard University against each other for the 63rd year. Last year, the BC Eagles earned their 19th Beanpot title, although the BU Terriers have dominated the tourney’s history with a whopping 29 championships. This year, the Harvard Crimson faces BU and BC goes up against the Northeastern Huskies beginning at 5 p.m. on February 2 in the first round, with the winners challenging each other in the finals on February 9 at 7:30 p.m., all at the TD Garden.
