An annual tradition that has been under the Berklee College of Music umbrella since 2007, the Berklee Beantown Jazz Festival is an outdoor musical extravaganza that is sure to appeal to jazz fanatics and novices alike. Located along a six-block stretch of Columbus Avenue to the west of Massachusetts Avenue and taking place September 30 from noon–6 p.m., this free, multi-stage event offers a line-up of international talents that specialize in music ranging from instrumental jazz and Latin-tinged rhythms to danceable Afropop. This much-anticipated celebration of Boston’s diversity—amplified by the addition of food and craft vendors—is a welcome gathering to mark the official beginning of autumn.
