The annual Boston Design Week that took place this past spring was such a rousing success that a special edition of the three-week festival returns this fall for a 2021 curtain call. For fans of design in all its permutations—from architecture and graphic design to furniture design, interior design and beyond—this is great news. From September 27–October 16, aficionados of design can revel in a slew of new in-person, virtual and outdoor events, as well as a handful of encore presentations from earlier this year that are available as archived online videos that can be accessed at any time. Programs include panel discussions on subjects ranging from home decor to ceramics, open studio visits, outdoor art and architecture tours, and even a plein air painting demonstration at the venerable and verdant Boston Public Garden on September 29. Also celebrate at such unique events as the National Kitchen & Bath Association-Northern New England chapter’s annual golf outing at East Greenwich Country Club in East Greenwich, R.I. on October 6; The Fenway Alliance’s 20th anniversary Opening Our Doors event that offers free performances at Christian Science Plaza from a host of Boston’s best cultural institutions along with free admission to the Mary Baker Eddy Library, Museum of Fine Arts, MassArt Museum and more on October 9; and Northshore Home magazine’s “Best of the North Shore” Home Awards at the historic Turner Hill Mansion in Ipswich on October 14.
