Experience the spooky and strange courtesy of these operators of eerie excursions
Boston By Foot: The beloved non-profit’s most popular annual event remains the Halloween-themed Beacon Hill with a BOO! Tour (pictured), a gleeful jaunt through one of Boston’s oldest and most beautiful neighborhoods. On October 28, 29 & 31, peruse elaborately decorated homes while listening to stories of murder and mayhem that reveal the area’s dark underbelly.
The Freedom Trail Lantern Tours: The venerable collection of Downtown historic sites takes on a shadowy demeanor during this exclusive moonlight stroll that recounts real history you won’t hear in the daylight, including the dastardly deeds of pirates, witches, spies, grave robbers and assassins.
Ghost City Tours: Both family–friendly and adults-only excursions are available from this operator, including a 21+ Haunted Pub Crawl that stops at a few watering holes frequented by the Founding Fathers that may contain spirits beyond the bottles on the shelves.
Ghosts & Gravestones: The only trolley tour on the list, Ghosts & Gravestones utilizes frighteningly costumed guides that recount grisly tales of the Hub’s dark past while stopping at the locations where the horrors took place.
Haunted Boston: Running through November 26, this Thursday–Tuesday night tour begins at 8 p.m. and walks patrons in and around Boston Common, visiting such spectral sites the Central Burying Ground, the Boston Athenaeum and the Omni Parker Hotel while telling the stories of their spirits that (allegedly) frequent them.
