Designs for Living

As the 11th annual Boston Design Week enters its second decade, this year’s version of the area-wide celebration of all things art and design has been organized around the theme of “Designing for the Future/Preserving for the Future.” There are more than 70 events planned, including tours, exhibits, workshops, panel discussions, parties, several open studio happenings and even a few family-friendly gatherings. Among the highlights are a behind-the-scenes preview of the new St. Regis, Boston Residences in the Seaport (pictured) on April 23 at 2:30 p.m.; A Street Art Tour of Lynn (pictured on cover) on April 24 at 6 p.m. presented by the non-profit arts organization Beyond Walls; the Spring Market at the Boston Design Center on May 1 from 9 a.m.–6 p.m.; a Free Appraisal Day and Restoration Clinic at the SoWa Art & Design Center in the South End on May 2 from noon–5 p.m.; and the 2024 Boston Design Week Awards at Boston Architectural College in the Back Bay on May 3 from 5:30–8:30 p.m. The final weekend is chock full of fun as well, including recognition of World Labyrinth Day at Armenian Heritage Park on the Rose Kennedy Greenway, which invites visitors of all ages to walk the maze on May 4 at 1 p.m. in conjunction with others worldwide to promote peace and harmony.
