The most adorable Mother’s Day tradition in the Hub returns May 12 when Duckling Day takes to the streets and pathways in and around the Boston Common and Boston Public Garden yet again. A celebration of both Moms and Robert McCloskey’s 1941 Boston-set picture book classic Make Way for Ducklings, Duckling Day begins at 10 a.m. with a gathering at the Common’s Parkman Bandstand that features lawn games, live music, magic, juggling, dance performances and more. A parade, led by the Harvard Marching Band, then ensues that re-traces the steps of Mrs. Mallard and her brood in the beloved tale, ending at the Make Way for Ducklings statue at the Public Garden. Break out your little one’s best duck outfit, and maybe even get dressed up yourself, to experience this unique event that is one of the highlights of the spring.
