Enjoy German-themed revelry all over the Boston area at these popular destinations 

Bronwyn: The German eatery in Somerville’s Union Square is the perfect setting in which to indulge in fest-style lagers and delicious pretzels, wursts, schnitzel, spätzle and more as it offers a special Oktoberfest menu from September 12–October 30. Also enjoy oompah bands on Sundays from 5–8 p.m. as well as stein-holding contests on Tuesdays and Saturdays. 

Boston Public Market: Join the free festivities on September 21 from noon–3 p.m. for local beer, themed nibbles, a stein-holding competition, a costume contest, live Bavarian-style music and more at this indoor farmers market’s Pine Bar. Looking for more fall fun and can’t make it to the Topsfield Fair? Then try the Market’s ticketed Harvest Party on the night of October 17, which features carnival games, giant pumpkins, live entertainment and a plethora of food and beverage.

Trillium Brewing: All locations of this maker of sought-after brews celebrate the occasion on September 21 & 22. The Fort Point and Canton outposts showcase free entertainment—including live DJs, costume and stein-holding contests, face-painting for the kids and more—along with special German menu items, while the Rose Kennedy Greenway and Fenway outposts offer seasonal decorations, Oktoberfest merch and German-accented brews.

The Wayside Inn: On September 27 from 5:30–9 p.m., this historic property in Sudbury boasts authentic German food and beer along with live acoustic rock, all in a festive outdoor tent. 

Harvard Square (pictured): Cambridge’s 45th annual Oktoberfest shindig, taking place October 6 from 11 a.m.–6 p.m., is a giant street party, complete with multiple stages of live music, kids activities, food and crafts vendors, street performers and, naturally, beer gardens galore.
