Between Boston Symphony Orchestra’s upcoming 2025–2026 season debut and the continuing celebration surrounding the 30th anniversary of Boston Pops conductor Keith Lockhart (pictured) at the baton, it’s shaping up to be a busy autumn at Symphony Hall in the Fenway. Lockhart leads his ensemble for several early September shows, including one on September 11 that features circus troupe Cirque de la Symphonie performing to a classic rock soundtrack. Then, on September 17, Lockhart, BSO music director Andris Nelsons and other special guests headline the free Concert for the City in conjunction with local music, art and dance groups. The BSO officially kicks off its 145th campaign on September 19 with its Opening Gala that also acts as a celebration of Symphony Hall’s 125th year. Upcoming highlights for the Pops include a concert of the songs of Lin-Manuel Miranda with singer Mandy Gonzalez (September 20); special Halloween showcases accompanied by such beloved films as Hocus Pocus (October 30 & 31) and the 1925 silent classic The Phantom of the Opera (October 31); and a Day of the Dead tribute (November 1). And for the BSO, patrons can look forward to programs like Mozart’s Jupiter symphony (September 25–27), Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 (October 2–4) and Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis (October 9–11) commemorating the first performance at Symphony Hall in 1900.
