From the heartrending to the uplifting, documentaries have always had the power to move us. Boasting a lineup of features and shorts ranging from the enlightening to the provocative, the second annual GlobeDocs Film Festival screens in Boston, Brookline and Cambridge October 11–15. From opening night’s Bending the Arc (pictured), the story of three doctors whose mission is to built health facilities in largely ignored areas of the world, to A Fine Line, the locally set closing night film about the struggles of women in the male-dominated culinary field, GlobeDocs paints a wide-ranging picture of our world today. As with last year, a highlight of every screening is a post-show discussion led by a Boston Globe journalist sure to add a lively complement to this illuminating event.
