Salt of the Earth

Blue-haired celebrity chef Jason Santos may have first emerged on the national scene as a “Hell’s Kitchen” contestant, yet he has solidified his reputation through several successful local restaurant ventures. His latest offering, Citrus & Salt (142 Berkeley St., 617-424-6711, citrusandsaltboston.com), takes a different approach than Santos’ Back Bay Harry’s, a something-for-everyone American tavern that was previously at the same address. Instead of burgers, pizza and wings, Santos is now dishing out Mexican/Californian coastal fare, along with plenty of tropical-flavored margaritas and an eclectic decor inspired by the beach as well as Mexico’s Day of the Dead.
