For the sixth year, Boston Design Week descends on the Hub, offering more than 80 mostly free events from March 27–April 7 that showcase the local art and design scene. Highlights include associated exhibits at area museums and galleries (including the Harvard Art Museums, MIT Museum, MIT List Visual Arts Center, Museum of Fine Arts and Brockton’s Fuller Craft Museum), open studios, panel discussions, tours, parties and more. There are book signings by renowned authors—fashion maven Cameron Silver (pictured above) appears in the South End on April 2, while local best-selling design expert Erin Gates debuts her latest book at the Boston Design Center on April 3. A grand finale awards ceremony at the new Artists for Humanity EpiCenter on April 5 honors Executive Vice President of Design for Wynn Design & Development Roger Thomas—the creative force behind the soon-to-debut Encore Boston casino—with the festival’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
