Actor and writer Chazz Palminteri’s A Bronx Tale has had many lives. It began in 1989 as an autobiographical one-man play before becoming an acclaimed film in 1993 that marked the directorial debut of acting legend Robert De Niro. In 2016, the story debuted on Broadway as a hit stage musical co-directed by the aforementioned Mr. De Niro. Now, that song-and-dance-filled version of the 1960s coming-of-age saga makes its Hub premiere when it plays the Citizens Bank Opera House April 2–14, complete with a doo-wop-inspired score backstopping the travails of a young man torn between his working-class father and the flashy mob boss he admires.
