Boston Pride Week kicks off in style with several events leading up to the big parade and block parties at its conclusion. After the annual flag-raising ceremony on May 31 at noon on City Hall Plaza (pictured), there’s a Pride Family Movie Night on Boston Common at dusk featuring the Academy Award-winning Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Also enjoy family-friendly entertainment and activities at Pride Day @ Faneuil Hall from noon–5 p.m. on June 1, while the nearby Bell in Hand Tavern (45 Union St.) hosts the ever-amusing, costumed High Heel Dash for Charity at 4 p.m. The first weekend of Pride Week culminates June 2 from 7:30 a.m.–1 p.m. with the AIDS Walk & Run Boston, New England’s largest HIV/AIDS fundraising event, at the DCR Hatch Shell on the Charles River Esplanade.
