One of the Hub’s most delightful harbingers of spring returns to Boston Common and the Boston Public Garden on May 8 when the adorable Duckling Parade marches through the heart of the city once again. Centered around the Boston-set children’s book classic Make Way for Ducklings by Robert McCloskey, the celebration starts at the Parkman Bandstand on the Common at noon when hundreds of kids dressed as characters from the story are led by the Harvard Marching Band to the end point at the beloved Make Way for Ducklings statue in the Public Garden. Those who register can also partake in Playtime on the Common prior to the main event from 10 a.m.–noon. This fun frolic features circus games, a juggler, a magician and more, along with goodie bags for all participants.
