A Hub Hockey Showdown

Since 1952, four of the Boston area’s best men’s college hockey programs have clashed for bragging rights in the city at the annual Beanpot. The tradition between the Harvard University Crimson, the Boston College Eagles, the Boston University Terriers and the Northeastern University Huskies continues at the TD Garden February 5, when the semifinals take place, and February 12, when the finals determine the 2024 champion. The Huskies (pictured), winners of four of the last five Beanpot trophies, look to continue their recent success after decades of being a perpetual underdog (pun intended). A welcome—and perhaps long overdue—addition acts as a prelude this year, when, for the first time, the 45th women’s Beanpot final takes to the TD Garden ice on January 23, after the semifinal on January 16 at Harvard’s Bright-Landry Hockey Center. Northeastern is also the defending champ in this contest, setting up what could be another banner year for the Fenway-based school.
