High 5: Romantic Sights

Share Boston’s spectacular sites and scenery with your sweetie this February

Boston Public Market: Shop for your honey (perhaps literally) at this indoor farmers market’s Valentine’s Day Pop-Up Market from February 9–11, then come back on February 14 for a chocolate and coffee tasting at 1 p.m. and a perfume-making class at 6 p.m. Other events surrounding the holiday include cupcake decorating from 2–3 p.m. on February 3, flower arranging demonstrations on February 9 & 12 at 7 p.m., truffle making at 1 p.m. and candle making at 4 p.m. on February 12, and a Valentine’s-themed pasta workshop on February 13 at 6 p.m.

Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum: Although a member event occupies February 14, any day spent gazing at the gorgeous garden courtyard and priceless masterpieces at this venerable Fenway art museum with your significant other can set hearts skipping a beat. Blossoms of note during February include exotic orchids from Asia and Africa.

Parker’s Restaurant: Re-live the formative years of Camelot at this historic Downtown landmark located within the Omni Parker House hotel, where, according to legend, a young U.S. Senator John F. Kennedy proposed to Jacqueline Bouvier in 1953. While this is disputed by a bar in Washington, D.C.’s Georgetown neighborhood, there nevertheless remains a marked spot (Table 40, to be precise) where the engagement allegedly took place that patrons can cozy up in, whether they have similar intentions or not.

Prudential Center: If you and your loved one find yourselves strolling the streets of the beautiful Back Bay neighborhood on February 14, don’t forget to look up at the tower atop this luxurious urban mall, which is illuminated in vivid pink and red hues to mark the holiday.

Tunnel of Love (pictured): The lighted trellis at the North End’s Christopher Columbus Park is transformed into an ideal locale for a romantic walk all month long, with heart decorations and love-inducing background music from 4–10 p.m. daily that add to the ambiance and provide the ideal backdrop for a selfie—or even a proposal.
