Travelers who pass through areas of Downtown Boston from now until March 30 may be doing double-takes this chilly season as the second year of the expansive Winteractive outdoor art exhibit showcases colorful, fun and sometimes interactive works from the waterfront to Post Office Square. Inspired by similar installations in the Canadian province of Quebec, this whimsical wintry display features such highlights as Mr. Pink (pictured), Philippe Katerine’s inflatable magenta character who inhabits six unexpected places like rooftops, trees and more throughout the area; illuminated sculptures like Rob Jensen and Warren Trezevant’s sound-activated Sonic Runway and Serge Maheu’s music-generating Cycle, both at City Hall Plaza; and Lucion’s 30-foot sphere Celestial Garden, which presents a fantastical, brightly lit wonderland full of amazing plants and creatures at Dewey Square.  Brought to the Hub by the Downtown Boston Alliance, this al fresco show also presents 10 original murals and even a work inspired by the upcoming 4 Nations Face-Off, the NHL’s international tournament that comes to the TD Garden February 17 & 20.
