Our neighborhood-by-neighborhood guide to ideas for romantic excursions out on the town

Beacon Hill

Certainly one of the top contenders for the title of “Boston’s Most Romantic Neighborhood,” Beacon Hill has long been beloved for its mix of picturesque cobblestone streets, elegant architecture and quaint shops and restaurants. Eminently stroll-worthy Charles Street (pictured) is the commercial heart of the district, while Louisburg Square is home to timeless brick townhouses and charm to spare. If browsing antique shops, window shopping at fashionable boutiques and admiring Federalist-era architecture isn’t heartwarming enough for you, there’s plenty happening to enhance any loving mood. On the aforementioned Charles Street, The Whitney Hotel is offering its “Boston in Love” package, which includes a bottle of bubbly, treats from Beacon Hill Chocolates, discounts on spa treatments and a $50 credit at the hotel’s acclaimed Peregrine restaurant along with a one-night stay. The upgraded gold package is packed with even more luxurious amenities, such as a complimentary massage for two and a choice between a helicopter ride or a yacht cruise. For even more luxury, look no further than XV Beacon Hotel, which features a “Romance on the Hill” package that boasts sparkling wine, chocolate-covered strawberries and a rose-petal turndown. While you’re there, check out the indulgent Mooo…. restaurant for a contemporary steakhouse experience courtesy of award-winning chef/owner Jamie Mammano. For intimate dining, seek out the subterranean gem Grotto, located in the shadow of the State House’s golden dome. This Italian eatery has long been known as a couples hideaway. Another classic Beacon Hill dining destination for the amorous is No. 9 Park, which dishes out creative Mediterranean cuisine from James Beard Award-winning super-chef Barbara Lynch alongside exquisitely crafted cocktails
