Always vibrant Harvard Square in Cambridge can seem a festive locale just about any season, yet as folks start to gather together en masse once again, this spring seems a particularly joyous moment in time. With the return of the Harvard Square MayFair after a two-year hiatus, such good times can seem even more special. This 37th annual festival, taking place May 15 from 11 a.m.–6 p.m., takes the fun to an extra level with a mix of music, dance, theater, arts and crafts, food, beer gardens and more. Live entertainment—featuring bands playing music of all types along with hip-hop dance mainstays the Floor Lords, traditional Chinese dance and even all-ages theater from Liars & Believers—happens across four stages, with reggae-rock headliners Roots of Creation taking the Cisco Brewers Main Stage at 4 p.m. A particular emphasis is being placed on highlighting local restaurants and retailers, so come on down to savor old favorites—or discover new ones—as the revelry takes over this beloved destination.
