Now in its fourth year of semi-annual concert extravaganzas, the spring edition of the Boston Calling music festival graces City Hall Plaza yet again May 27–29. This three-day blow-out begins on Friday night with headliner Sia, followed by a who’s who lineup of current alternative rock, pop, hip-hop and electronic acts over the next two days, including Robyn, Courtney Barnett, Børns, The Vaccines, Lizzo, Disclosure, Haim (pictured), Janelle Monáe and Elle King. An addition to the usual two stages of bands is an all-local stage featuring five comedians and four bands. And for the hungry and thirsty, there’s something new as well—newcomer food vendors like Ruth’s Chris Steak House and Firefly’s BBQ, as well as a new wine pavilion and a special beer from Danish brewer Mikkeller crafted just for the event.
