High 5: Valentine’s Day Dining

Romance your loved one with the special menus at these fine establishments

Artisan Bistro: The restaurant at the luxurious Ritz-Carlton, Boston offer couples two decadent dinner specials from February 11–14: surf and turf in the form of grilled tournedos (a round cut of beef tenderloin) and butter-poached lobster tail, as well as seared jumbo scallops and Oscietra caviar served with winter squash risotto, charred leek and mushroom ragout, and saffron broth.

Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse: Both the Seaport and Back Bay locations of this lauded eatery offer unique, three-course menus on February 13 & 14. Start with items like oysters, Hamachi, octopus and more before moving on to main courses that include Dover sole, Maine lobster, Long Island duck breast and filet mignon. Desserts are just as eye-popping, with double chocolate raspberry mousse cake, red velvet cake and vanilla tartlet from which to choose.

Ducali (pictured above): This Roman-style pizzeria and restaurant in the North End offers two ways to cook up some romance at home. Enjoy a heart-shaped pizza for pick-up on February 13 or 14 (order by February 12), or bring back the ingredients to your kitchen for whipping up a perfect pie to die for on your own. There are even several Valentine’s Day-themed cocktails from which patrons can choose.

Lucie Drink & Dine: The Colonnade Hotel’s new-ish eatery offers both to-go and in-person Valentine’s Day dining. For take-home (order by February 10 for pick-up on February 11 or 12), a four-course, prix fixe menu for two is available that boasts steak au poivre, Arctic char and sweet treats for dessert. An à la carte menu is available for sit-down diners, who can choose from such mouth-watering items as sea scallops and Southern-fried quail. Be sure to check out the eye-popping Valentine’s Day milkshake (pictured on cover), which is piled high with strawberry chip ice cream, a red velvet bundt cake, candied rose petals and a chocolate-covered strawberry.

Alden & Harlow: Over in Cambridge, this acclaimed Harvard Square establishment has a special February 14 menu that is highlighted by braised beef a la plancha, tagliatelle with caviar and plenty of sweets, in addition to several passion-themed cocktails. There’s a similarly delectable menu at sister restaurant Waypoint, which adds fried oysters Rockefeller and more into the mix. Not in a Cupid sort of mood? Then pop into The Longfellow Bar, another related hot spot, and order an It’s Not You, It’s Me, a consoling mixture of cask-strength rum, lime, simple syrup, St. Elizabeth liqueur, an absinthe rinse and Angostura bitters.
