Party at the Market

The Boston Public Market (BPM) is a year-round bounty of sights, sounds, aromas and, perhaps most importantly, tastes for all that visit this indoor cornucopia of vendors selling everything from fresh fish and produce to local beer and gourmet donuts. Experience much of this and more on October 12 from 7–10 p.m. at the fifth Harvest Party, a shindig celebrating BPM’s mission to cultivate a diverse food community. A ticketed event, this mouth-watering extravaganza features bites from many of the market’s food purveyors and an open bar from 7–8 p.m. that offers craft beer and cocktails from BPM’s recently opened Pine Bar, as well as live music, dancing, a silent auction, raffles and fun photos with two giant gourds, the massive PumpKing and PumpQueen. Two premium experiences are also available for those who don’t mind paying a bit extra: The BPM’s Entrepreneurship Tent on the nearby Rose Kennedy Greenway, which boasts an all-night open bar, exclusive lounge seating and automatic entry into the raffle; and the intimate, buffet-style Harvest Dinner from 5:30–7 p.m. that also includes access to the Entrepreneurship Tent and lounge. It’s all in service to BPM’s non-profit mission, which includes such services as free field trips for more than 200 Boston Public School students to help encourage interest in healthy food and free rent to its minority vendor-operated Incubator Program stall.
