A mix of South American and Asian fare, the menu at the recently opened Ruka (Godfrey Hotel, 505 Washington St., 617-266-0102, rukarestobar.com) may seem unusual, but it actually has roots firmly planted in Peruvian tradition. Since Peru saw immigrants from both China and Japan arrive on its shores in the late 19th century, it has been home to the Japanese-influenced nikkei and Chinese-tinged chifa cuisines, which are now available to Theatre District diners. From nikkei’s sashimi-like dishes to chifa’s melding of wok stir fries and fried rice, Ruka mixes a variety of exotic ingredients in spicy selections that are sure to intrigue adventurous foodies looking for a new dining experience.
