March is National Women’s History Month, and two area institutions are celebrating in unique ways. In the Back Bay, longtime favorite the Parish Café offers a month-long menu of more than a dozen sandwich creations from some of the Hub’s best female chefs. Enjoy old favorites from Tiffani Faison of Sweet Cheeks, Lydia Shire of Scampo, Joanne Chang of Flour, Karen Akunowicz of Fox & the Knife (pictured), Jodi Adams of Porto and Barbara Lynch of No. 9 Park, as well as a brand-new sandwich, The Nightshade Po Boy, from Rachel Miller of Nightshade Noodle Bar. Across the Charles River in Cambridge, head to CambridgeSide for a special pop-up market on March 18 featuring women-owned businesses selling home décor items, jewelry, art and more. Organized with the help of J. Perry Fine Art, this showcase hosting such vendors as August Sun Candles, Queens Essentials and CrownBox takes place on Level 1 from 11 a.m.–8 p.m., giving shoppers an all-day opportunity to take home some of the best goods Boston’s enterprising women have to offer.
