Get in the Swing
Take a trip back to the heyday of Big Band jazz when the 1940s musical revue In the Mood (refer to listing, page 17) returns to Boston. A big hit when it came to the Emerson Majestic in the historic Theatre District in 2013, this time around the show takes up residency at the larger Citi Emerson Colonial Theatre May 12–24. Whether you remember the World War II era or not, everyone should recognize such timeless tunes as “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” “I’ll Be Seeing You” and “Moonlight Serenade,” which are wrapped around retro dance numbers that evoke the energetic spirit of mid-20th century America. A worldwide phenomenon that is now in its 21st year of touring, this spectacular showcase will shed light on all the fun your grandparents had back in the “good old days.”
