Another recent restaurant debut, this one on Long Wharf in the heart of Boston’s downtown waterfront, has made quite a splash with diners. State Street Provisions (255 State St., 617-863-8363, statestreetprovisions.com) offers New England-focused fare—including house made sausages, a raw bar showcasing local shellfish and even Boston baked beans—served in a cozy, wood-accented interior designed by acclaimed architect Peter Niemitz. A nocturnal scene is sure to develop due to a late-night menu featuring $1 oysters, and wine, regional brews and the Italian liqueur Amaro Lucano all found on tap. Inspired by the maritime and culinary history of its location, State Street Provisions nevertheless sets a course with an eye firmly on the future.
