A Vintage New Year

For fans of the grape, 2023 is shaping up to be a banner year in the Hub. Not only does the Boston Wine Expo make a triumphant return in March (see story here), the Boston Wine & Food Festival takes up residence once again at the Boston Harbor Hotel, running January 12–March 30. The celebration officially begins with the opening night reception on January 14 at 6:30 p.m., which features wine tastings from more than a dozen top producers, food from hotel executive chef David Daniels, live music and an art exhibit of the work of famed photographer Andy Katz. Themed wine dinners, classes, seminars and more populate the rest of the schedule, with highlights that include cocktail and jazz brunches on January 22 & March 19 at 11:30 a.m. (complete with create-your-own Bloody Marys), a tasting of wine and cheese from across the globe on January 26 at 6 p.m., chocolate and cocktail pairings on February 2 at 6 p.m., and a Valentine’s Champagne brunch on February 12 at 11:30 a.m. The ever-popular Battle of the Cabs events are also in the mix, with iterations taking place January 28 & February 2. Good causes are served as well, with non-profit partners that include The Greater Boston Food Bank and the James Beard Foundation benefitting from the proceedings. Whether popping in for a single event or doing an overnight stay to enjoy multiple evenings of wine adventures, this 34th annual extravaganza remains a time to remember for vino aficionados and casual fans alike.
