Pride on the March

The culmination of Boston Pride (refer to listing, page 16), the 45th annual celebration of the Hub’s LGBT community, the Boston Pride Parade takes place on the streets of the Back Bay and South End on June 13. Beginning at noon in Copley Square, a grand procession full of colorful floats, bands and marchers from various local organizations winds its way down Clarendon Street, on to Tremont and up Berkeley Street before making its way down Boylston Street, between the Public Garden and Boston Common and on to the Boston Pride Festival at City Hall Plaza. That event, officially kicking off at 11 a.m., showcases vendors from all over the country, including those offering a variety of food options, and also features the popular Festival Bar, which boasts a fabulous view of the main stage. Speaking of which, the centerpieces of this celebration are the musical acts that play from noon–6 p.m., including multi-platinum selling country artist Billy Gillman, the soulful Mary Lambert and Grammy Award-winning British artist Estelle.
