Looking East

After garnering years of acclaim for their award-winning sushi restaurant O Ya in the Leather District, husband-and-wife team Tim and Nancy Cushman have finally opened their long-awaited second Boston venture, Hojoko (1271 Boylston St., 617-670-0507, hojokoboston.com). Located at the self-billed “rock & roll hotel” The Verb in The Fenway neighborhood right next to iconic Fenway Park, this playful space offers diners modern takes on sushi, robata (Japanese-styled grilled meats and fish) and more, plus a fun, irreverent, pop-culture-inspired decor, complete with vintage tabletop arcade games (pictured). The bar is another highlight, featuring a wide selection of sake, Japanese and American beers, and Japanese-inspired craft cocktails.
