Weekender: Aussies, boats and ballet
Boston is getting a taste of spring this weekend, but don’t get too comfortable—it’s going to be short-lived. All the more reason to get out and enjoy yourself, we say. Here are some of the weekend’s top events.
Aussie acrobatic act Circus Oz continues its Celebrity Series-hosted run through Sunday at the Shubert Theatre. There are no elephants, but there is an aboriginal clown, juggling, live music, and death-defying feats. Read our interview with artistic director Ed Boyle here.
Comedian Michael Che is performing at Laugh Boston Friday and Saturday nights. He’s written for Saturday Night Live and appeared on VH1’s Best Week Ever.
Ballet fans have two shows to choose from this weekend: Boston Ballet’s Close to Chuck and Jose Mateo Ballet Theatre’s Unbridled. Both shows feature three distinct works. Check out both and let us know which one you liked better.
If you’re in the market for a new boat (aren’t we all?), the week-long New England Boat Show kicks off at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center on Sat. Feb. 22. Peruse more than 800 new boats along with gears and gadgets.
Saturday is also National Margarita Day, so visit your favorite local Mexican joint and enjoy some tequila. Find our handy list of Mexican restaurants here.
Spank! Harder hits the Wilbur for one night only on Sunday. The musical Fifty Shades of Grey parody is a solid choice for a naughty girls’ night out. Read our interview with one of the show’s stars, Michelle Miracle, here.
